The other day a very dear friend of mine pointed out that the hardest battle is the one with food since we need to eat to survive. Oh the irony. But you know? I did get the miracle answer to my prayers… except as it turns out its not so magic. I mentioned in last week’s blog my 8 secret ingredients to losing weight and keeping it off altogether… and there’s more. Vegetables. Specifically Kale. Let me introduce you to King Kale. It has stuff in it like protein (yes, really!) vitamin B6, vitamin K , fibre, calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, omega-3’s and more. It’s really quite a super food! People have a love/hate relationship with it as its quite tough (resilient), its got quite a bitter taste and can clean your pipes easily. The best bit though is its absolutely fantastic for: 1 – Weight loss - lots of fibre to get that poo moving, and the body needs loads of vitamins and minerals to work at its best. 2 – Great skin – the healthier you are on the inside the healthier your skin is on the outside. 3 – Better sleep – by increasing your nutrients your body functions better you have less inflammation and that means better sleep! 4 – Mood-boosting – Kale is packed full of antioxidants which help stress reduction and increase your feel-good-factor. 5 – It has anti-cancer nutrients in the form of glucosinolates and studies have shown it can help in the prevention of cancer. 6 – Better sex! Wait, what? Well its true. Just take my word for it. 7 – No more Brain Fog! Kale can make your brain fog disappear. Add in one smoothie or juice with kale every day and you’ll see the difference immediately. So, go on lets all bow down to King Kale and fill yourself up with it! The easiest and tastiest way to get Kale in your diet is through juices and smoothies and your kids will love those too! Check out my website at www.dawnlucht.com for some free juice and smoothie recipes with kale in. I want to hear your feedback and experiences of using kale so please come along and leave your comments below! Kale rules, ok! Dawn xo

Had been using kale, orange and ginger and tastes lovely... My girls are enjoying with strawberry but I know it's about to get difficult to find strawberries out of season, so I'm starting to test with other sweeter things in smoothies like manuka and pineapple, kiwi... Trial and error. Thanks for the tips. ;)

that's great Fern! yes strawberry is not going to be around much longer. Tescos have some great frozen mango and frozen fruit - add a couple of dates and that's a great sweetener. Sounds like you're doing a fabulous job! :)
