People think I’m weird. Why? I’m not entirely sure – but they do. I struggled with the idea of being a bit off the wall my whole life and to make matters worse I am now v-e-g-a-n. Oh no! Oh yes… I am now officially 100 times weirder than I was before :) Someone I know asks me all the time when I’m making my fruit smoothie if I want to put a steak in… my friends now think “oh god Dawn’s coming for dinner, what do we feed her?” and my family think it’s a phase, it’ll pass… But that’s ok because along the way I have found out a lot about me. I’ve found out being plant based (aka vegan) means: 1 – Means you lose excess body fat You become much leaner, fitter, healthier, stronger and less bloated. Win! Vegans are on average 10Lbs lighter than meat-eaters. 2 – It’s cheaper!
No extra money spent on meat, which c’mon now is soooo expensive… especially when you’re on a budget (and you don't always know whats actually in it). 3 – My energy is through the roof! I am on the go all the time and yet I still have so much energy. Ironically the more exercise I do, the more energy I have and the better I eat, the more energy I have. Who knew! I don’t get any afternoon slump or brain fog and I feel great nearly all the time. 4 – My anxiety and stress levels are massively lower. I used to feel angry, anxious and stressed a lot. I felt like I couldn’t cope with the things life threw at me… and yet now I feel like I can accomplish so much more… thanks to what I’m now feeding my gut bacteria. 5 – I am now so in tune with what my body likes and doesn’t like. I don’t feel like I’m constantly struggling or going against the grain. I feel at ease. That’s not only in my body these days but in my life too. 6 – It’s super easy and quick to make! As a single mum time is always of the essence. The beauty of eating plant based is that nearly all of it you can eat raw. In a rush? No problemo – eat from the fridge or make a smoothie. Your son needs a snack? No worries – loads of fruit on the go. Tasty. Simple. 7 – So much choice! The range of recipes that are mouth-watering and amazing never cease to amaze me. I’ve discovered so many new flavours and foods, which as a foodie pleases me enormously. I didn’t realise just how flavour-deprived my palate was. So there you are – the 7 reasons I’m happy to be weird. In fact I’d go as far as to say we should ALL celebrate our uniqueness and weirdness and shout it out from the roof tops. Lets be weird together! But ok you don’t have to come for dinner if you don’t want to :) I want to hear about your experiences, your weirdness and what makes you unique… so come on over to the blog don’t forget to leave a comment! I reading your blogs Dawn, so honest, open and factual! And the best part is your non-judgemental outlook towards others choices! I love that. You are positively weirdly unique and that's an amazing quality I think anyone wishes to have. Looking forward to reading more blogs. (you also look amazing and healthy)
