4 ways to make 2016 all about you!

​Hello Fellow Warriors,
 
I’ve had a few questions recently asking how to make the most of 2016.
 
The simple answer is to connect with your heart.
 
What? What does that mean?
 
Up until about 3 years ago I had spent so much time disconnected from my body. This meant that I was making decisions that weren’t good for me, eating food that made me sick and my general wellbeing was definitely working against me.
 
So what did I do?
 
It all started with what I call The Holy 4:

​Food + Journaling + Meditation + Yoga.

Plant based diet & Journalling
​I began eating a plant based diet (vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains) and then I started to journal. I have an example of the types of things I’d write down, here.
 
The aim was to reconnect with my body. What was it telling me? Why was I always yo-yo dieting? Why did I crave so much junk food when I was sad/angry/upset etc.
 
I started my plant based journey with smoothies. I am so passionate about the positive effects that they bring that I’ve created the 30 smoothies in 30 days challenge throughout January. Its free and not too late to join. Find out more here.
 
I thought that the answers were all outside of me, that other people knew me better than me.
 
But I’m here to tell those of you that feel the same way that the answers are within YOU. To reconnect with your heart means you reconnect with who you truly are. It means that you become happier, lighter, calmer, less anxious, happy, fulfilled and aware.  
 
Meditation
We are taught that happiness is outside of us, but that’s not true. And that’s where meditation comes in.
 
There are many, many, many types of meditation and none are better than the other. The trick is to find one that really resonates with you.
 
Meditation helps you to understand that you are not lost, even though you may feel like you are. It helps you to reconnect to yourself. It will also help you find the answers to so many of the questions that have eluded you until now like: Why can’t I be happy? Why can’t I find the relationship I’m looking for? Why can’t I lose weight?
 
Here are some suggestions of good places to start your meditation journey.
 
Yoga
The last piece of the puzzle for me was yoga. Yoga is simple the best way I’ve found to stop all the negative chatter in your head instantly. You’re focussing so much on your body that you reconnect with it. Your mind becomes calm and through using the breath you find peace and ease.
If yoga doesn’t suit you then try walking, hiking, rock climbing, cycling, running – anything that means you’re moving your body. You can do this! I know you can!
