How To Stop Your Bloating

I have suffered with bloating for YEARS!

​After nearly every meal I’ve woken up with a big Buddha belly that made me look like I was 5 months pregnant.

I have had chronic constipation and tummy issues for as far back as I can remember.

Picture this: my family are sitting round the Sunday dinner table, we are eating a beautiful roast dinner and my nan very casually asks me in front of everyone how my bowel movements are going.

My nan wasn’t known for her tact or her subtlety...!

It really affected how I felt within and about myself.

Back in 2001 I cut out wheat from my diet and the bloating significantly disappeared but it didn’t go completely.

I know that having had lots of antibiotics growing up probably affected my gut bacteria and so these days I’m still playing catch up.


I’ve found a few things that really work with healing the bloating:

1 - Smaller, lighter meals for dinner so my stomach doesn’t have to work so hard during the night. Nighttime is supposed to be for regeneration and not digestion.

2 - Cutting out wheat and limiting refined sugar is a biggie! 

3 - My total saviour has been DigestZen essential oil by doTERRA.

You put a drop under your tongue or rub on your belly. It’s so amazing! Within half an hour my bloating goes and my discomfort too. I’ve rubbed it on my sons tummy too when he’s had an upset stomach or tummy pains and it works like magic!

We talk about drinking peppermint or nettle tea when we have stomach issues but the irony is that drinking liquid stops the hydrochloric acid from doing its job of digestion properly.

It’s such an incredibly powerful feeling to know that in times of need that these oils are there to support our physical and emotional wellbeing.

This oil is an essential part of my self-love and self-care toolkit - especially if I go out for dinner and something I’ve eaten doesn’t like me. A drop or two of this oil and things are so much calmer! YAY!
