I’ve often thought of myself a bit like a guinea pig. Have you ever seen one? 

They get so excited when it’s dinner time and food is coming that they start to squeak. I can so relate to that! I love food. I am a foodie and just like guinea pigs I love plants. 

Perhaps what you don’t know is that ever since I can remember I have craved substances.

First it was cheese, bread, pasta, chocolate, takeaways, orange juice, milk and pastries. Then it was cigarettes, alcohol, people’s company, attention, and weed.

Sleep is a funny old business. 

I have spent many years trying to get my son to sleep. His approach to sleep is much like his current approach to brushing his teeth - sporadic and sometimes nonexistent I have spent many hours working out what stops him. 

I know what it’s like to have months and months of broken sleep where your brain stops working properly during the day from total sleep exhaustion. 

4 years of chronic sleep deprivation with my son and then 2 years later a similar situation with my old, ill dog I know how debilitating lack of sleep can be to functioning optimally. 

As a highly sensitive person there are certain factors that I know do affect me and I’d like to mention those before I get to talk about the nutritional aspects of sleep.

Hello lovely!

We live in a complicated society where so much of what's on offer to us isn't as it first seems.

What does that mean? It means that the products we use, the water we drink and the food we eat isn't always necessarily ok for us to consume.

So, I wanted to talk a little bit about toxins and how they affect our mental, emotional and physical health. I feel this information is critical to empower you so you can make informed choices for the health of you and your family.

Whilst this isn’t the most glamorous of topics, I want to stress just how important it is for you all to be aware of the most common toxins in your environment so you can avoid them and reduce the toxic load in your liver, brain and central nervous system.

This isn’t an extensive list of toxins in our environment but just the most commons. I don’t want to overwhelm you!

When I was a kid, joy was playing outside with my friends, or watching Happy Days on tv. Joy was going on holiday and playing on the beach with my dad. Joy was trampolining, playing netball and scoring goals. 

But Joy changed.

3 months ago my best friend fell pregnant and it triggered me enormously…

​not because I wasn’t happy for her but because I hadn’t finished healing the overwhelm I’d experienced being a first time highly sensitive parent to a highly sensitive child.


I am an emotional person, I have found parenting the most challenging and intense experience of my life. It has pushed me to places within myself that I never (ever) wanted to go and yet because of my drive to not f*ck up my son I have had to.

Having a long winter cold is pretty grim. The feeling of being run down and below par the whole time is depressing… and let’s be honest, I HATE being ill.

I’m not good at being ill, being tired or hungry. Hangry is definitely a term coined just for me.

I presume its got something to do with being highly sensitive so when my body is out of balance, it quickly makes the rest of me out of balance (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!).

Anyway, two years ago I set an intention to make our home and our bodies less toxic. I started replacing many of the common medicines in my home with alternatives and adding in natural ways to support my family.

I was fed up with constantly reaching for those popular brands and having absolutely no idea what was inside of them. They also no longer matched my view of how amazing plants are at supporting the body and so I began a quest to find out the best natural remedies for my family.
